You can insure yourself for unemployment in the KOKO unemployment fund through us, if you are an employee in Finland or a posted worker abroad employed by a Finnish company. You can join the fund already while studying.
Employees receive unemployment allowance from the KOKO fund
KOKO fund pays earnings-based unemployment allowance to its members who are unemployed, temporarily laid-off or have to accept shortened working hours. Every member who has been a fund member for a minimum of 26 weeks before the dismissal and meets the employment criteria is entitled to unemployment allowance.
The employment criteria is met when:
- the person has, during the last 28-month reference period, been 26 weeks in an insured employment, at least 18 hours per calendar week
- full-time employment earnings correspond, at minimum, to the pay level as defined in the collective agreement and, if no collective agreement is applied, the full-time earnings reach the minimum level of 1252 €/month (in 2021)
- regular working hours, as defined in the employment contract, for example during the 3-shift work balancing period, have been on average at least 18 hours in a calendar week and the pay is defined on the basis of a collective agreement
- work has been performed under the terms of an employment relationship
You can check the level of your earnings-based unemployment protection in the KOKO fund’s allowance calculator.
