The Teaching Award of The Finnish Association of Business School Graduates Goes to Lappeenranta Again
The Teaching Award 2013 of The Finnish Association of Business School Graduates (SEFE) has been given to ‘Master´s Programme in International Marketing Management (MIMM)' of the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) School of Business. The proposal was put forward by student organization Enklaavi ry, and the award was received by Sanna-Katriina Asikainen, Olli Kuivalainen, Sami Saarenketo and Liisa-Maija Sainio, the core faculty Professors of the programme.
The theme of the 2013 Teaching Award was The Best Master's Programme. The aim was to identify a Master's Programme with clearly defined competency goals, which supports the development of universal and transferable skills, promotes an international and entrepreneurial approach and maintains solid connections with working life.
In its reasoning, the Award Jury emphasized not only the uniqueness of the Master's Programme but also the transferability of the practices used in its design. Combining academic competence with hands-on business skills was equally praised. MIMM-programme was also selected for its clear structure, forward-looking teaching practices and ongoing development work.
Also in 2012, the Teaching Award was given to LUT. The award winning course was ‘International Entrepreneurship', included in the MIMM-programme and designed by Professors Olli Kuivalainen and Sami Saarenketo.
The Teaching Award was given to the winners at the national event of Economics and Business Studies in Lappeenranta on August 19.
SEFE supports the development of teaching Economics and Business Administration by its annual Teaching Award. The Award amounts to €6,000 and the student organization submitting the winning entry will be awarded by €1,000.
