
Graduated Members from Finnish universities
Graduates with a Degree in Economics and Business Administration from a Finnish university
Individuals who have completed a Finnish university degree in economics and business administration, as well as those who have completed a postgraduate degree in the same field are eligible to join Suomen Ekonomit. Finnish universities that offer degrees in economics and business administration are Aalto University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, LUT University, University of Oulu, Hanken School of Economics, Tampere University, University of Turku, University of Vaasa and Åbo Akademi University. Those who have graduated from a university of applied sciences are not eligible to join.
A degree in economics and business administration refers to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics and business administration. Additionally, degrees awarded by a school of economics or a faculty of economics in a Finnish university, with a different title than a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Economics and Business Administration, are also considered equivalent.
Those who have received the right to study for a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration (M.Sc. Econ.) without previously completing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration (B.Sc. Econ.), as well as doctoral candidates who have received the right to pursue a Doctorate in Economics and Business Administration (D.Sc. Econ.) without previously completing a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration (M.Sc. Econ.) are also eligible to join as soon as they have accepted their study place.
Graduates with Other Degrees from Finnish universities
It is possible to join if you have completed:
- A university degree in technology with industrial engineering and management as the major.
- A university degree in political or social sciences with economics as the major.
- A degree from the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Helsinki with food economics, agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, or an equivalent field as the major.
- Another university degree (e.g., administrative sciences), where the content, major, or specialization (e.g., economics) is comparable to the above definitions.
Membership eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants should be prepared to provide a copy of their degree certificate upon request. Finnish universities are listed on the Ministry of Education and Culture’s website. Those who have graduated from a university of applied sciences are not eligible to join.
Individuals Who Studied Abroad
The prerequisite is that the person has completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree or a postgraduate degree in business at a university. Those who have graduated from a university of applied sciences are not eligible to join.
Membership applications are processed on a case-by-case basis. To process the application, the applicant must submit a copy of their degree certificate and, if necessary, additional information about the degree.
Graduates of MBA and EMBA Programs
The program must be offered by a university. At least a bachelor’s degree from a university together with a university-organized MBA or EMBA program qualifies the individual for membership.
Membership applications are processed on a case-by-case basis. For processing, the applicant must submit a copy of their degree certificate and, if necessary, additional information about the degree.
Student members
Students completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics and business administration at a Finnish university are eligible for student membership. You can join as a student member as soon as you have accepted your study place.

If an exchange student is accepted as a member of a student association or student union, they can be a member of Suomen Ekonomit through these organizations while studying at a Finnish university.
A person who has completed a master’s degree in economics and business administration cannot remain a student member after graduation unless they are pursuing another bachelor’s or a master’s degree in economics and business administration. A person pursuing a postgraduate degree cannot be a student member.
A student studying at a university outside Finland cannot be a student member.
