What does the change to the terms and conditions for legal advice mean?

Members who join on or after 1 January 2027 will have access to personal legal advice only after six months of continuous membership. This means that in the future, joining only when you need legal assistance will not give you immediate access to personal legal advice.

The six-month waiting period does not apply to members who joined before 1 January 2027.

So, if you are considering joining, it is worth becoming a member before you actually need legal assistance. By joining before the end of the year, you can make sure you have access to personal legal advice as soon as you need it.

The need for legal advice often arises unexpectedly

Did you know that every year, more than one in ten Suomen Ekonomit members consults a lawyer?

Problems at work rarely come with advance warning. A disagreement can arise unexpectedly over issues such as:

  • bonuses
  • overtime pay
  • annual leave
  • termination of employment.

When that happens, it is important to be able to seek expert legal advice immediately.sti.
